2023 ARAM TRIP

THE AIM
The goal of this trip was to facilitate a smooth and secure visit to Sri Lanka for young diaspora students and professionals. This trip offered much more than a mere visit; it was a chance for them to deeply understand and begin to address the challenges faced by their people in their ancestral land. Prior to the trip, we conducted meetings with the locations to identify critical needs to inform our aid approach and donation purchases.

DONATIONS
We sourced and packed items based on the requests made by the institutions we visited. To the left is a breakdown of all donations and to the right is an example of a site specific donation that was sourced and pre-packed to Sacred Heart Girls Home:

“ The sensory bag, keyboard and other toys are really useful. Now, on Sundays we are providing training to coaching assistants to have keyboard classes for special needs children that’s helping them to concentrate on work ”

FOLLOW UP
We engaged with issues that we observed at places we visited and using surplus funds collected, we have completed a range of follow-up projects.
Based on medical check-ups, observations from sites and our own research, we have created a report and an opinion piece to begin our journey towards establishing a think tank. Our aim is to inspire action, conversation and inevitably enact change with the help of other organisations.
